Adding complexity to the puzzle, the suspect classmate, who hails from the same region in Uttar Pradesh, is a minor and lived adjacent to Manjot's hostel room.

Despite the serious allegations, the investigating officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmveer Singh, disclosed that tangible evidence of murder has not emerged yet. Nevertheless, law enforcement continues to pursue leads and conduct a meticulous probe into the tragedy that has sent shockwaves through the community.

Amidst heartrending grief, the parents of Manjot Chabra demanded a postmortem be conducted by a five-member medical board before accepting their son's body. Only after the case was officially classified as murder did they meet with City Superintendent of Police Sharad Choudhary to seek answers and justice for their beloved son's untimely demise.
