Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Wednesday extended greetings to the Muslim community on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha or Bakrid.
In his message, Khan said the celebration glorifies sacrifice and perpetual faith in the Almighty. “My heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Kerala and other Keralites all over the world on the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Ad’ha," he said.
May the celebration which glorifies sacrifice and perpetual faith in the Almighty, inspire us to remain united through love, compassion and kind deeds that reinforce our fraternity and social harmony, the Governor added.
The Kerala government declared Wednesday and Thursday as public holidays to mark Bakrid this year. Recently, religious leaders made it clear that the festival would be celebrated in the state on Thursday.
