A women actor has filed a case in with Kochi City Cyber Police in Kerala alleging that her morphed photos were being circulated in Facebook groups by a fake social media profile created on her name.

She has complained that this has been done to tarnish her image and outrage her modesty. The morphed pictures have been shared in the group with about 15,000 members, she said.

The police have registered the case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 78 (2) (stalking) and the Information Technology Act Sections 66 (computer-related offences, specifically those involving dishonest or fraudulent actions related to computer resources), 66C (identity theft), and 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form).
