In a pivotal development, a Delhi court is poised to reconvene on August 26 to deliberate over the pivotal arguments regarding whether to formally press charges against the erstwhile WFI (Wrestling Federation of India) head and prominent BJP Member of Parliament, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. This legal course follows the unsettling allegations of sexual harassment brought forth by female wrestlers.

Originally slated for a hearing on a recent Saturday, the legal proceedings had to be deferred for a span of one week due to the presiding judge's absence on account of leave. The adjournment only serves to heighten the anticipation surrounding the eventual verdict.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harjeet Singh Jaspal, having weighed the circumstances, granted bail to Singh on July 20. This decision extended to Vinod Tomar, a suspended assistant secretary of the Wrestling Federation of India.

The legal saga took a significant turn when the Delhi Police lodged a charge sheet on June 15. The six-time Member of Parliament has been formally charged under sections 354 (pertaining to assault or criminal force on a woman with the intention to violate her modesty), 354A (relating to sexual harassment), 354D (involving stalking), and 506 (addressing criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
