The 2024 Golden Globe nominations were unveiled on Monday morning.

Cedric the Entertainer and Wilmer Valderrama revealed nominees in various film and TV categories, introducing new awards acknowledging stand-up comedy and cinematic excellenc and box office achievement. The announcement was made live from the Beverly Hilton.

The award for outstanding cinematic and box office achievements comprises eight nominees selected from movies that have attained “a box office receipt total/gross of $150 million, of which $100 million must come from the U.S. domestic box office, and/or obtain commensurate digital streaming viewership recognized by trusted industry sources,” as stated by the Globes when unveiling the category earlier this fall. Films released after November 22 until the end of the year “may qualify based on projected box office performance and/or digital streaming views from trusted industry sources.”

The nominees and winners in this category will be determined by Golden Globes voters, "based on excellence" among the films that meet the specified box office and streaming viewership criteria.

The second addition to the categories is for outstanding performance in stand-up comedy on television. This category will showcase six nominated comedians who delivered “traditional stand-up comedy performances of at least 30 minutes, other than roles in television series, limited series, anthology series or motion pictures made for television” on “a recognized media platform (individual social media accounts do not qualify).”

The 81st annual Golden Globe Awards is set to air live from the Beverly Hilton on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.
