Blackpink's Jennie recently found herself caught in a controversy and has been receiving backlash from online users. American rapper Latto's Instagram story unexpectedly became a hot topic for internet users, adding fuel to the ongoing discussion surrounding BLACKPINK's Jennie. This unexpected development caught the attention of K-pop fans around the world. The incident began when Blackpink’s Jennie was criticized for her decision to listen to Frank Ocean's Bad Religion, a song that had been deemed disrespectful to the Muslim community.

The hashtag "Jennie apologize to muslims" started to trend on X (formerly known as Twitter) as conversations about Jennie's song preference gathered steam. When Latto uploaded a screenshot of her own name trending to promote the release of her new single, she unintentionally entered the conversation. BLINKs were drawn to the accompanying hashtags, which rekindled the debate over Jennie's alleged insensitivity to the Muslim community and attracted their attention.

BLACKPINK's devoted following, known as BLINKs, reacted furiously to this and expressed fear that Latto's tweet may harm Jennie's reputation. Fans immediately intervened, asking Latto to take down her Instagram story and apologize to Jennie. This led to both artists’ fan fighting and the dispute grew even more heated.
Some of the rapper's followers said that she might not have been aware of the controversy. Supporters of BLACKPINK explained that the group had always shown respect for different cultures, despite the fact that these accusations stirred up intense feelings among online users. Neither Jennie nor Latto has reacted to the incident.

This is the second time in recent times that a similar issue has arisen. Internet users are requesting an apology from BTS member RM after he recently suggested the song Bad Religion by Frank Ocean to his followers. On X, the hashtag "RM apologize to Muslims" is currently trending. On his Instagram feed, RM frequently offers song suggestions for fans.

Blackpink's previous instances of cultural insensitivity were brought to light by the present controversy concerning Jennie's claimed contempt for religious sensitivities. Critics consider the usage of religious idols as props in music videos and disrespectful concert attendance as two examples.
