Pakistan: 10 Killed, Several Feared Trapped As Massive Fire Breaks Out In Karachi Shopping Mall

As per the local broadcaster Geo News, the blaze started early in the morning at RJ shopping mall on Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road. The officials on duty said that the fire brigade so far has rescued around 50 people.

In an unfortunate incident, at least ten people died while several others are feared trapped inside as a massive blaze broke out in a multi-storey shopping mall in Pakistan's Karachi on Saturday.

As per the local broadcaster Geo News, the blaze started early in the morning at RJ shopping mall on Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road.

According to the officials on duty, the fire brigade so far has rescued around 50 people but more remained inside,. It has been reported that efforts are underway to bring them back to safety.

Rauf Hamid, who was rescued from the building, told Geo News many people are still trapped.

“When the fire broke out, we saved ourselves by rushing towards a safe room. The smoke was so intense that we didn’t understand what was happening,” he said.

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab confirmed the death toll.

The cause of the blaze was not clear yet. Several people injured in the fire were also being treated in hospital, Geo reported.
