German Climate Activists Clash With Police To Stop Coal Plant Expansion

Climate activists are camping in the village of Luetzerath in Germany's Erkelenz in an attempt to stop the mining expansion in the area. German authorities have ordered the village of Luetzerath to be cleared of all residents. It is to be razed for the expansion of nearby Garzweiler lignite coal mine. The activists are protesting the razing of the village and the expansion of mining. They say the mining expansion will cause millions of tons of additional carbon-emission.
