Here is why the private courier companies are crying foul:
- Packets below 500 grams form 60 per cent of their business. The move would thus hit the private players severely.
- The amendments are meant to protect the postal service by limiting the scope of the business of the smaller players
- The proposed registration and renewal fees are too high
- No need for a regulator. A free business environment is what is ideally required.
