Ajith Kumar has returned with his ‘vintage’ avatar on the big screen with Adhik Ravichandran’s Good Bad Ugly. The film has received positive reviews from Ajith's fans and they are raving his entry, sway, style and performance in the action-comedy.
Good Bad Ugly, which was released in Tamil and Telugu, had a massive opening of Rs 29.25 crore, as per a report in Sacnilk. The Tamil version collected Rs 28.15 crore and Telugu version minted Rs 1.1 crore. On Day 2, the Ajith-starrer earned Rs 13.50 crore (early estimates).
Ajith’s previous film, Vidaamuyarchi, which was released in February this year, opened to Rs 26 crore (nett) on Day 1, and raked in Rs 10.25 crore on Day 2.
According to the film's production house, Mythri Movie Makers, Good Bad Ugly made Rs 30.9 crores (gross) just in Tamil Nadu, which is the biggest opening of Ajith’s career both in the state.
The film had an overall 42.89% Tamil occupancy on Friday. Morning shows had the lowest occupancy of 28.80%, while the afternoon shows had 46.87%, and evening shows at 52.99%. Night shows had the highest occupancy of 73.91%.
The worldwide box office collection of Good Bad Ugly was 51.40 crore gross on its first day as Rs 17 crore gross earnings came from overseas market.
The box office collections of Good Bad Ugly is likely to see a surge during Tamil New Year festival or Puthandu, which is on April 14, making it a long weekend.
Alongside Ajith, Good Bad Ugly has an ensemble cast including Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Das, Prabhu, Prasanna, Sunil, Rahul Dev, Yogi Babu, Shine Tom Chacko and Priya Prakash Varrier, among others.
Jackie Shroff, Tinnu Anand, Sunil Varma, and Sayaji Shinde are also part of the cast.
