Years have passed but 'Bob the Builder' still remains fresh in the minds of those who have watched it.

Now, there's good news for the fans of the show. The friendly handyman, who debuted on BBC 25 years ago, is set to make its big-screen debut. The film will be produced by none other than Jennifer Lopez.

The film will revolve around Roberto (also known as Bob), as he embarks on a journey to Puerto Rico for an important big building project, where he "takes on issues affecting the island and digs deeper into what it means to build. Bob’s journey will celebrate the vibrant and colorful textures of the Caribbean Latin nations and their people."

While the film is untitled, and the director is yet to be revealed, what's known is that the script will be crafted by Felipe Vargas, known for his work on 'Grapefruit & Heat Death!' (2020)

'In The Heights' star Anthony Ramos will be lending his voice to the titular character. He said, "For years, 'Bob the Builder's characters have inspired young people around the world. A movie about friends working together, a celebration of a beautiful home they share, and how love can help to conquer any obstacle in your way. Can we fix it? Yes, we can!" Ramos, who is co-producing the film alongside Lopez stated that some aspects of the film will be based on his life.

While 'Bob the Builder' began as a simple cartoon about a bricklayer and his talking machines, it eventually evolved into a worldwide phenomenon, adapting with minor alterations in languages and voice actors to suit diverse markets all across the globe.

Robbie Brenner, the President of Mattel Films, heaped praise on Ramos and Vargas for their "genius vision for the story" and said that they "will capture this beloved character in a manner that audiences who grew up with Bob will recognize, and all-new audiences will enjoy."

It seems like the huge success of Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie', which became the highest-grossing film of 2023 and has won several acclaims, has paved the way for more Mattel movies to come through and entertain audiences.
