Most of us are aware that ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is one of the longest-running sitcoms on the TV screens. It has been more than 15 years that the show has made the audience both laugh and cry. Over the years, the characters have managed to carve an irreplaceable space in both the heart and mind of the viewers.  

The show, which revolves around the lives of typical Indian Co-operative Housing societies, has recently been in the news for the return of Disha Vakani, or Dayaben. While the makers had hinted that the character will return during the Diwali episodes, it was recently confirmed that Dayaben will not be back in the Gokuldham Society soon. This led to ‘Boycott TMKOC’ trending on social media with fans accusing producer Asit Kumarr Modi of making false claims. 

But it cannot go unnoticed that over the years, several members of the show have taken an exit from ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’. Let’s take a look at them:

Malav Rajda 

After being associated with the show for more than 14 years, the show's director Malav Rajda bid adieu after filming the last episode of the show on December 15, 2022. At that time, it was said that he exited the show due to creative differences. However, later, he informed Hindustan Times that he had no fallout with the production house and only has gratitude for TMKOC's producer Asit Kumarr Modi. 

Disha Vakani

Disha Vakani, popularly known as 'Dayaben', left Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah mid-way midway and since fans loved watching her, they were hugely disappointed. She played Jethalal's wife in the sitcom for almost ten years from 2008 to 2017 and made her exit around six years ago. Ever since then, there have been speculations that she would return but as per recent reports, it looks like the search for a new Dayaben is going in full swing. 

Bhavya Gandhi

Bhavya Gandhi, who was known to play the role of Tapu aka Tipendra Jethalal Gada, was one of the most popular characters in the show. After being on the show from 2008-2017, he left the show as he wanted to explore new opportunities. 

Raj Anadkat

After Bhavya Gandhi's exit, Raj Anadkat joined to essay the role of Tapu, Tipendra Jethalal Gada. He was part of the show from 2017 to 2022. As he was missing from several episodes, he recently released an official statement on his Instagram handle to announce his exit from the show. 

Shailesh Lodha

Shailesh Lodha, who essayed the role of Taarak Mehta in the show, was also a loved character, and he was the narrator of the show. He bid adieu to the sitcom in the year 2022. Sacchin Shroff then joined the show in his role and replaced him as Taarak Mehta in the show.

Neha Mehta

Neha Mehta essayed the role of Anjali Mehta, Taarak Mehta's wife, on the show but she left midway in 2020, reportedly, due to creative differences with the production house. 

Jheel Mehta

Jheel Mehta, who essayed the role of Sonalike Bhide, daughter of Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide and Madhavi Bhide, left ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ in 2012.

Nidhi Bhanushali

After Jheel Mehta's exit, Nidhi Bhanushali joined to play the role of Sonalike Bhide, and was part of it from 2012 to 2019. After Nidhi's exit, Palak Sindhwani was roped in to play the role of Sonalike Bhide and is still a part of the show.

Gurucharan Singh

Gurucharan Singh, who essayed the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi, was known for his energetic personality and his dialogue, "Usse toh main chhaddanga nahin". He quit the show in 2020. 

Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal

Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who essayed the role of Mrs Roshan Singh Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, left the show in March 2023 after being associated with the show for 15 years. She also made allegations against the show’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi, and accused him of making sexual advances toward her 'several times.'
