Bollywood sensation Aditya Roy Kapur rose to fame when he portrayed the character Rahul Jayakar in 'Aashiqui 2.' The film starred Shraddha Kapoor as the leading actress. The film was released in April 2023. The previous 'Aashiqui' starred Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal and was released in July 1990. Now, to add to the franchise, 'Aashiqui 3' was announced with Kartik Aaryan in the lead in September 2022.

In the latest episode of the talk show 'Koffee With Karan Season 8,' Aditya appears as a guest alongside close friend Arjun Kapoor. The duo addressed their acting career and box office flops. Apart from the discussions surrounding their love lives, what caught attention was Kapur’s reaction to Kartik Aaryan stepping into shoe for his famous 'Aashiqui' character.

Karan Johar asked 'The Night Manager' actor how he feels about this. Kapur responded, “I think he’s the perfect person to take the baton forward. There was no chance I could be in this because, in the second part, my character went for a long swim, from which he is not returning. I think it’s great. I died; where will I come back now? My spirit will come back."

Following this, Karan Johar joked that it would be hilarious to watch him come back as a ghost to haunt Kartik Aaryan for taking over his role. Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan announced the news of him being cast in 'Aashiqui 3' on his Instagram handle last year, with Anurag Basu directing the film.

The recent episode of 'Koffee With Karan' was full of entertainment. Arjun Kapoor and Karan Johar were seen making fun of Aditya over his lack of knowledge of Bollywood. Be it not remembering the name of the dog in 'Hum Aapke Hai Koun' or not knowing the names of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's characters in 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge,' the actor shook us all, despite being a part of the industry since 2009.

As for 'Aashiqui 3,' Kartik Aaryan, in an interview with Variety, stated, "The timeless classic Aashiqui is something I grew up watching and working on Aashiqui 3 is like a dream come true. I feel privileged yet grateful to collaborate with Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt for this opportunity. I’ve been a big fan of Anurag Basu’s work and collaborating with him on this one will definitely shape me in many ways."

Recent reports say that Aaryan will be starring against his former girlfriend Sara Ali Khan for 'Aashiqui 3.' However, there is no official confirmation of the same, as of now.
