A woman was reportedly shot-dead inside an Uttar Pradesh police station following an alleged land dispute.

According to an NDTV report, the property, disputed by two families, is near a police-station close to a crowded market area in Mainpuri. After the argument over the land escalated, one of the males from the opposing family went after the woman with a gun. She is said to have headed toward the police-station for protection.

The report adds that the police officers inside the police station could not handle the crowd at hand and man ended up shooting the woman from point-blank range. He reportedly tried to escape but was caught and beaten up by a crowd that had gathered by then.
