Opposition parties lashed out at Advani over his statements before the Liberhancommission accusing him of going ahead with "his communalagenda" and saying his continuance as union home ministerwould be "obstructive" to a fair inquiry in the Ayodhya case.

Congress and left parties came out strongly against hisstatements before the Liberhan commission of inquiry andalleged that he was sharpening "sectarian propaganda".

"We deplore Advani's persistent attempt to utilise anyand every occasion to advance his core and communal agenda. Hehas not even spared the forum of Liberhan commission to mountpressure for his sectarian propaganda," congress spokesmanS. Jaipal Reddy said.

"He is supposed to be the home minister, but continues topursue the old agenda of the BJP," he said.

The CPI-M alleged that Advani "is clearing the pitch onAyodhya and sharpening communal polarisation in the wake ofthe Uttar Pradesh elections.

"All that he is saying is in defence of demolition ofBabri Masjid," CPI-M politburo member Sitaram Yechury said.

Former prime minister V.P. Singh accused Advani and humanresource development minister M.M. Joshi of misusing the platformof Liberhan commission to keep alive the temple issue.

Regarding attacks against him, Singh said he had soughttime from the panel to make his position clear. 

The all India Forward Bloc (AIFB) demanded Advani'sresignation saying he "shamelessly" defended the demolition ofBabri Masjid and "proved he is a rabid communal fanatic andreligious fundamentalist."
