A few months after students from a medical college in Chennai threw a dog off the terrace, another case of animal brutality has come up from Vellore in Tamil Nadu. Reports say that four students of the Christian Medical College killed a monkey after torturing it and buried the remains near their mess on campus.

An NDTV report mentions that a video by animal-rights activists of the exhumation of the body shows the creature with its arms tied behind its back and a telephone cable wrapped around its neck.

In a Facebook post, animal-welfare activist Shravan Krishnan said that The female bonnet macaque wandered into the hostel on November 19. "They tied her hands and started abusing and torturing her by beating her with sticks and belts, broke her legs, jaws and finally put a rod up her anus and killed her. The monkey was buried behind the hostel mess by the college sweepers."

“I have never seen a more horrifying sight in all my years in animal welfare,” Krishnan was quoted as saying.
