Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday wished Congress President Rahul Gandhi on his 49th birthday saying, "May he be blessed with good health and long life."
Rahul Gandhi, who turned 49 on Wednesday, was in the national capital on Monday to take oath as a parliamentarian in the Lok Sabha.
Hours later, Gandhi, too, took to Twitter and thanked the prime minister for his greetings.
The two leading politicians -- Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi -- had squared off in the recent Lok Sabha elections in which the PM-led Bharatiya Janata Party had handed Gandhi's Congress a handsome defeat.
The Congress has been, ever since the defeat, reeling under a severe leadership crisis after Gandhi resigned from the top post, saying he wanted to work as a "common Congress worker."

The Congress Working committee had, however, unanimously rejected the resignation and authorised Gandhi to restructure the party the way he wanted.
Gandhi, though, is adamant on quitting and has asked senior leaders to find a suitable replacement at the earliest.
