Former England captain Alastair Cook will take the field for one last time on the final day of fifth and final Test against India at The Oval Tuesday. Yesterday, in his final innings, the 33-year-old scored 147 to help his team take complete control of the match.

During his 286-ball innings, Cook made a flurry of records. The opener moved past Kumar Sangakkara into the fifth place in the all-time Test run-scorers' list. He now has 12472 runs from 161 matches, at an average of 45.35 with the help of 33 hundreds. He is England's highest scorer in Test, and also the most capped player.

Cook also became the highest scoring left-hander in Test, once again going past Sri Lankan legend Sangakkara. The former England captain became the fifth player to score a century both in his debut and final Test.

Many, including past and present crickteres, wished Cook for his hundred and also for an outstanding career. Some of the tweets are here:

Cook made his England debut in 2006 against India at Nagpur. He scored 60 in the first innings, then hit an unbeaten 104 in the drawn match.
