The southpaw who burst on to the Test scene with a sensational knock on debut against the West Indies in the first Test has caught the eye of none other than South Africa's AB de Villiers.

After scoring runs in the domestic circuit and in the IPL, Jaiswal stamped his authority when he scored a brilliant 171 that helped India register an easy win over the hosts in Dominica.

Jaiswal shared a record-breaking stand (229) with skipper Rohit Sharma before the former blazed his way to a well-made century as he earned plaudits and good wishes from cricket fans and pundits.

Talking on his YouTube channel, De Villiers praised the young batter and said he was the stand-out performer in the 1st Test against the West Indies.

“The player who stood out for me was Yashasvi Jaiswal. Right at the top of the order, in his first Test, it does not happen every day that a youngster plays his first Test and scores a century. The first time I saw him play in the IPL, I knew there was something special about him. You could look at him and feel how much time he has to face the ball,” De Villiers said on his Youtube channel.

"He has a lot of time. He is a nice, tall left-hander, the pace is not going to bother him. He has got time to make decisions and play, both against pace and spin. He is a very talented youngster, a very hot prospect for the future for Team India and I am happy to see him score that century in that match," the ex-South African skipper added.

Jaiswal scored an improbable 171 off 387 deliveries. He became the 17th Indian batter to score a century on Test debut. He also holds the record of facing the most of balls on Test debut.

21-year-old Jaiswal is also the fifth youngest batter to register a score of 150 on debut in Test cricket. For his scintillating ton in the first Test, he was also awarded the Player Of The Match award.
