ONE Friday Fights 115 set the stage for another group of rising stars from the Muay Thai and submission grappling realm looking to punch their ticket to ONE Championship’s main roster.
Although none of this week’s hopefuls earned the life-changing US$100,000 contract, they left fans inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, and those watching from around the world thirsting for more.
The card featured Chatpichit, who put on an instant classic in his win over Khunsuk, plus Ahavat Gordon, who moved to 9-0 with a gutsy performance against Seksan Fairtex.
Already-contracted Gabriele Moram bagged her first win, while Ubaid Hussain went all-out to emerge victorious and improve to 12-0 in his career.
Here’s what else stood out live in Asia primetime on July 4.
Suriyanlek Starches Rambong
Suriyanlek decimated Rambong and his seven-fight winning streak as their 132-pound Muay Thai fight ended in under two rounds.
Suriyanlek came out swinging hard and fast while Rambong tried to match his pace. And although they put on an entertaining first round, all that changed in the second.
The Sangtiennoi fighter backed Rambong into the ropes. With no where to go, Rambong threw a left knee. As soon as he lifted his leg and swung his left hand down to generate power, Suriyanlek sent a piston-like right hand careening into his jaw.
Rambong froze and began to fall sideways as Suriyanlek cracked him with another right punch, leaving him pinned to the ring ropes. The referee jumped in to spare Rambong at the 2:39 mark of the round. With the win, Suriyanlek nudged his record to 83-29.
Gingsanglek Annihilates Balyko
Coming off a string of respective loses, both Gingsanglek and Alexey Balyko had their backs against the wall on Friday. But after just 53 seconds of action, it was the Thai who ripped his way to victory in their flyweight Muay Thai firefight.
Gingsanglek dropped Balyko at the start of round one with a high kick but the latter answered the eight-count. Moments later, Gingsanglek threw another high kick, missed, then rotated into a spinning back fist. His forearm connected and left Balyko levitating mid-air before the Russian’s stiffened body came crashing to the canvas.
The referee jumped in to call off the action and, with that, Gingsanglek moved to 43-12-2.
