- Pompet enters the bout after Puengluang Baanramba in the second round at ONE Friday Fights 111

- The 28-year-old's next opponent is Yodlekpet, a four-time Muay Thai World Champion

Pompet Panthonggym will step into the spotlight on August 15 to face four-time Muay Thai World Champion Yodlekpet “The Destroyer” Or Atchariya in the headliner for ONE Friday Fights 120. The event airs live in Asia primetime from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Their flyweight Muay Thai showdown will see two dangerous knockout artists collide, with both men looking to continue their momentum and take another step toward a life-changing US$100,000 contract and spot on ONE Championship’s main roster.

Pompet enters the bout after an emphatic showing at ONE Friday Fights 111, where he stopped Puengluang Baanramba in the second round with a perfectly timed right hook.

The 28-year-old believes this main event offers the perfect chance to measure himself against one of the most feared names in the sport.

The Thai slugger said:

“I think there are a lot of dangerous fighters waiting in the flyweight division. It’s stacked with talented athletes. I need to see how I perform in this fight to get a clearer picture of whether I can continue fighting in this division.”

That confidence comes in part from how he’s responded to adversity.

Losses to Suriyanlek Por Yenying and Aslamjon Ortikov forced him to reassess his preparation and make strategic adjustments in training. His rebound win against Puengluang proved those changes were working.

Now, with Yodlekpet’s aggressive style and knockout pedigree standing across from him, Pompet knows variety and precision will be key to victory.

He explained:

“I’m determined to get another win in this fight. I’ve prepared all my weapons because it won’t be easy to beat Yodlekpet. I need to have a lot of variety in my attacks.”

Pompet understands the importance of winning this Friday. Beyond the ring, Pompet says competing in ONE Championship has given him greater financial stability.

With his family’s business temporarily closed, he’s focusing fully on his fighting career.

He said:

“Before I got the opportunity to fight in ONE Friday Fights, my life was just so-so. But fighting here has given me a much more stable income, and now I can start planning to expand and do other things.

“After getting the win, the feedback from fans has been great. Many of them had been wanting me to fight at flyweight for a long time. Moving to this division has gotten me more attention and a lot more recognition.”

Pompet Says Moving To Flyweight Brings His Confidence Back

Pompet Panthonggym’s meeting with Yodlekpet Or Atchariya will be his second outing at flyweight – a move he says has brought more power, durability, and confidence to his game.

Before making the jump earlier this year, he spent most of his ONE Friday Fights run in lighter divisions, where he earned stoppage wins over Duangsompong Jitmuangnon and Rittidet Sor Sommai but also suffered tough defeats to Chorfah Tor Sangtiennoi and in his rematch with Suriyanlek.

The switch to 135 pounds has given him a fresh start.

Pompet said:

“My first time fighting at flyweight division involved a lot of changes. I had to focus on building more muscle and throwing weapons stronger.

“The win against Puengluang turned out exactly as I planned. I could feel my attacks were heavier, and my body felt tougher. It was a satisfying debut, and I hope to do even better in my next fights.”

The flyweight division is one of the most competitive in ONE Championship, featuring elite names like former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon and former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama.

Pompet knows that a statement win over Yodlekpet could put him on the map among these giants. Reflecting on his previous showing in the division, he aims to use that momentum to keep himself progressing through the division.

“This recent win was so important. It brought my confidence back, and winning right away in my first flyweight fight gives me the confidence to keep fighting in this weight class.”
