With Royal Challengers Bangalore backed up against the wall, Virat Kohli was in a different mood, determined to pull his team out of the mud after Heinrich Klaasen's sensational hundred earlier in the day. He conjured up a magical hundred, keeping his team in contention for a play-offs berth with an 8-wicket win. Kohli seemed to have gone through several emotions throughout his innings having brought up his first IPL hundred since 2019. Batting on 94, Kohli danced down the wicket off the bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar launching one over long on to bring up his sixth hundred of the tournament. Faf du Plessis, who played second-fiddle to the "King" on the night, gave him a bear hug, after which the Indian got down on his knees, arms stretched wide soaking all the applause that ricocheted around the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Kohli's innings also saw him equal Chris Gayle's record of six centuries in the competition.
