In a video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), the Indian players are seen to be enthusiastically cheered by fans, as they posed for selfies too. “South Africa bound Team India are here,” read the caption of the BCCI post. The video also shows the team reaching the hotel, where the staff were dressed in traditional Indian attire, and welcomed the cricketers in the famililar 'namaste' greeting. "Welcome to South Africa," captain Suryakumar Yadav said in the video.

With senior pros Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli choosing to rest for the white-ball leg of the tour, India have picked a T20I squad with a mix of youth and experience. The Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian T20I unit is fresh from a 4-1 triumph at home against Australia.
