The live-action for the Jamaica vs Guatemala fixture of Group C in the Concacaf Gold Cup 2025 will start at 7:30 am IST. The match will be played at the Dignity Health Park in California, USA, on Tuesday, 17 June 2025.

Guatemala have started well in the first 10 minutes with both Oscar Santiz and Relando Cephas forcing Andre Blake to be alert. Nothing dangerous yet, but Jamaica will need to be careful not to give the Guatemalan forwards too much space.

Santis thought he had given Guatemala what would have been a deserved lead, finding the left bottom corner with a clinical finish, but he was marginally offside. The fans are not happy with the referee’s decision.

All of the attacking impetus is coming from Guatemala’s side, though, with Ramirez having a shot at goal some time ago. They look threatening every time they go forward.

Demarai Gray has been a livewire for Jamaica. After his shot flew just over the bar from a free-kick, the winger is trying to go forward at every chance. Jamaica are growing into the game, with more possession in the last 10 minutes, and Guatemala are slightly pegged back as Bailey gets a left-footed shot off after a deflection from Morales, but it’s not on target.

Chuck everything that was just said, as Oscar Santis gives Guatemala the lead completely against the run of play. A lethal counter-attacking move that was aided by some shoddy defensive work by Jamaica, and a backheel assist from Lom finds Santis one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and he makes no mistake.

Guatemala have the slight advantage (51%) in terms of ball possession, and Jamaica are trying to find the equaliser, but their shots, including the one from Brown and Gray, are wayward and not on target. The Reggae Boyz need to be more clinical.

Jamaica are the more threatening of the two sides in the second half, despite failing to threaten Hagen’s goal significantly. Herrera wins a free-kick in a dangerous area after Cephas is too strong in his challenge. However, the #7’s free-kick is knocked behind for a corner, and it comes to nothing, despite Guatemala’s shouts for a handball by Lowe.

A couple of changes for both sides, as Pedro Altan and Rubio Rubin come on for Guatemala in place of Kevin Ramirez and Darwin Lom. Jamaica bring on Rumard Burrell and Kasey Palmer in place of Warner Brown and Demarai Gray.

The Reggae Boyz are threatening in the last five minutes, and Guatemala’s defence are not looking comfortable at the moment. However, they are still lethal on the counter, a cross from Santis is found by a diving Rubin, and his header brings out a terrific reaction save from Blake. Only the second shot on target from Guatemala.

One thing is for certain: Guatemala are not planning to sit back and defend their one-goal lead. Despite the cagey nature of the match, both sides are pushing forward for that second goal. Whether it’s a leveller for Jamaica or doubles Guatemala’s advantage in the final 10 minutes remains to be seen.
