After a rain-interrupted Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test match at MCG, Australia resumed their innings from 187 for three and added just 131 runs before Pakistan bundled them out for 318 runs at Lunch. Pakistan's opener Abdullah Shafique (62 runs off 109 balls) showed some patience and added 90 runs for the second wicket with captain Shan Masood (54 runs off 76 balls). Both scored half-centuries and kept Pakistan in the game before Pat Cummins's double blow put Australia on top. At the end of the day's play, Pakistan were trailing by 124 runs with wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan (29* off 34 balls) and all-rounder Aamir Jamal (2* off 26 balls) at the crease
