Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with and address the Indian contingent, which returned with a historic haul from the Hangzhou Asian Games, at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi at 4:30pm on Tuesday, October 10. India bagged an unprecedented 107 medals at the Asian Games 2023, which placed the country in a creditable fourth position behind China, Japan and South Korea. Modi had earlier congratulated the Indian contingent for achieving the hallowed 100-medal mark, writing on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the remarkable milestone had "filled our hearts with pride". (Medal Tally | Cricket World Cup)

A government release said that "the programme is an endeavour by the Prime Minister to congratulate the athletes for their outstanding achievement at the Asian Games 2022 and to motivate them for future competitions."

The most prominent one among future events is the Paris Olympics, slated for July-August next year. The splendid Indian performance at the Asiad augurs well for the Olympics, where many Indian athletes will be medal contenders. The good showing in the Asian multi-sport event will fill them with confidence ahead of the sterner test ahead.

The release also said that the felicitation function will be attended by officials from the "coaches, officials from the Indian Olympic Association, representatives of National Sports Federations, along with officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports."
