The day began with Women's Premier League auction as franchises went tooth and nail to snap some of the top stars in women's cricket. Vrinda Dinesh and Kashvee Gautam topped the headlines as they went for record bids. India men's junior hockey team beat Canada 10-1 and qualified for the quarters in the FIH Men's Junior Hockey World Cup 2023. India women's cricket team were bowled out for 80 runs as they were narrowly beaten by four wickets against England women in the 2nd T20I. Manchester United were drubbed on home turf by AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League. Here's what transpired today. Indian Women's cricket team put on a dismal show as they were bundled out for a paltry 80 runs as England completed the proceedings in 11.2 overs to win the match by four wickets.

8:50 PM: Sikandar Raza Suspension

"Zimbabwe captain, Sikandar Raza and Ireland players, Curtis Campher and Josh Little have been fined for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first T20I match between Zimbabwe and Ireland at Harare Sports Club on Thursday," said ICC.

"Raza has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee and received two demerit points, meaning he is suspended for the remaining two matches of the ongoing three-match series after his accumulated demerit points reached four within a 24-month period following his latest breach of the ICC Code of Conduct."


8:16 PM: India Beat Canada 10-1 In FIH Men's Hockey Junior World Cup

India produced a blistering game to trounce Canada 10-1 to enter the quarterfinals of the Men's Junior World Cup hockey at the National Hockey Stadium Saturday. The win propelled India to the second position in Pool C, enough to earn them a last eight berth. Read more about the match here.

7:06 PM: Know More About Vrinda Dinesh, UP Warriorz Latest Recruit

Karnataka batter Vrinda Dinesh raked in the headlines when was snapped up by UP Warriorz for a massive Rs 1.3 crore, making her briefly the most expensive uncapped player in the history of Women's Premier League. It lasted for few hours as she was overtaken fellow uncapped star Kashvee Gautam, who went to Gujarat Giants for INR 2 crore. Read more about it here.

6:11 PM: Indian Women's Double Pair Of Ashwini Ponnappa-Tanisha Crasto Through To Guwahati Masters Finals

Second seeds Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto came up with a clinical display against third seeds Debora Jille and Cheryl Senen of the Netherlands to reach the women’s doubles final at the Yonex-Sunrise Guwahati Masters Super 100 badminton tournament on Saturday.

5:00 PM: Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023, Quarter-finals - Second Innings Update: 

Bengal and Kerala are through to the semi-finals of VHT 2023! 

Bengal bounced back after losing their openers early, courtesy of a sensational unbeaten partnership between Sudip Kumar Gharami (117*) and Anustup Majumdar (102*). They beat Gujarat by eight wickets! Final score: GUJ - 283/9; BEN - 286/2

Kerala, meanwhile, thwarted a challenge from Maharashtra, thanks to a four-wicket spell from Shreyas Gopal at a crucial juncture of the match. Vaisakh Chandran took three wickets himself, as Kerala struck out Maharashtra far below the total target. Final Score: KER - 383/4; MAH 230

3:50 PM: WPL Auction - Update: 

Some huge surprises in the WPL 2024 Auction early on as Amy Jones, Chamari Athapaththu, Sabineni Meghna, Deandra Dottin all remain unsold despite high expectations. Meanwhile, Delhi has splashed the cash on Annabel Sutherland, making the Australian all-rounder a INR 1 Cr player!

NEW ZEALAND WIN! The Blackcaps have beaten hosts Bangaldesh in the second of the two Test matches by four wickets. The series ends with the teams level 1-1. 

2:00 PM: WPL Auction - Highest Base Prices! 

West Indies All-Rounder Deandra Dottin and Australian Bowler Kim Garth are the only players with an INR 50 Lakh base price for the WPL 2024 Auction.

1:00 PM: Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023, Quarter-Finals - Mid-innings update: 

Kerala have set Maharashtra a 384-run target in the QFs! Both Krishna Prasad and Rohan Kunnummal scored a century each, while Sanju Samson disappointed again with a 25-ball 29.  

Meanwhile, Gujarat, in the other quarter-final tie, have set Bengal a target of 284 to advance to the last four, courtesy of a ton by Priyank Panchal. 

11:30 AM: BAN vs NZ - Second Test Update: 

Hosts Bangladesh have set in the total for New Zealand to chase in the second of the two Test matches between the sides. New Zealand, who turned the entire Bangaldesh team back to the pavilion for 144 in their second innings, need 137 runs to win and tie the series.

Alyssa Healy has officially replaced the retired Meg Lanning as the all-format captain of the Australia Women's National Cricket Team. Healy will lead Australia in their upcoming tour of India in late December!

Mumbai Indians are the defending champions, having beaten Delhi Capitals in the final earlier in the year. Naturally, Mumbai and Delhi are the two teams with the least work to do in the auction, while Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore - the two teams who missed out on the playoffs - the most.
