Women's Premier League 2024 Player Auction: Uncapped Vrinda Dinesh, Kashvee Gautam Hit WPL Payday; Deandra Dottin, Chamari Athapaththu Unsold - As It Happened

A total of 165 players gave their names in the Women's Premier League Player Auction and only 30 players were sold out on Saturday as all five teams of the WPL completed their 18-member squad for the next season. Catch all the highlights of the auction here

Hello and welcome to the Women's Premier League 2023 Player Auction. 165 women cricketers from across the world gave their names in the auction for the WPL's next season and out of them, only 30 players including nine overseas players were picked by one of the five teams of the WPL. Australian batter Annabel Sutherland along with uncapped Indian player Kashvee Gautam received the highest bid of 2 Crore. Delhi Capitals bought Sutherland whereas Gujarat Giants showed faith in Gautam. Another uncapped Indian player Vrinda Dinesh also got big cash after UP Warriorz spent 1.30 Crores on her. But, in the end, one gets the impression that the teams did their homework on the players they needed and would be content with what they got.

Gujarat Giants picked Tarannum Pathan on her base price of 10 lakh in the WPL auction.

6:23 PM: RCB Bag Sophie Molineux 

RCB bought Australian Sophie Molineux for 30 lakh and with that 18-member squad was also completed.

6:20 PM: UPW Complete Squad; Pick Gouher Sultana

And Uttar Pradesh Warriorz completed their full squad with the inclusion of Gouher Sultana in the team. She was picked on her base price - 30 lakh.

RCB acquired Simran Bahadur for 30 lakhs in the accelerated auction.

The Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have completed their 18-player lineup, and there will be another, potentially last phase of auctioning in which the remaining three teams - Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Bengaluru - will submit the names of the players for whom they desire to bid.

Naturally, Mumbai and Delhi are the two teams with the least amount of work to do in the auction. Gujarat Giants, on the contrary, have 13 slots - ten domestic and three international. With INR 5.95 Crore in tow, they also have the most money in the bank!
