Van Mela will run from 20 to 26 December at Lal Parade GroundChief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the 7-day International Forest Fair on December 20 at 5 pm at Lal Parade Ground, Bhopal. Forest Minister Dr. Kunwar Vijay Shah, Medical Education, Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Mr. Vishwas Sarang, Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Prabhuram Chowdhary, Cooperation Minister Dr. Arvind Bhadauria, Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Mr. Ramkishore Kavre And Madhya Pradesh Small Forest Produce Cooperative Federation Administrator Shri J.N. Consotia will be specially present.

Specialties of Van Mela

This time 300 sales stalls are being set up in the Van Mela. These include stalls of herbal products from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Odisha, Maharashtra etc. There will be a live demonstration of herbal products, especially from raw materials to pre-processed products and techniques related to it. Along with this, OPD stalls will be set up for medical consultation. In this free medical consultation will be given by more than 100 Ayurvedic doctors/Vaidyas. There will also be a two-day workshop based on the theme “Self-reliance from minor forest produce”. Along with experts from Bhutan, Nepal, Philippines, subject experts from Madhya Pradesh and other states will also be able to present their views in the workshop. There will be a detailed discussion regarding the management and protection of minor forest produce.

Cultural programs will be held daily

Cultural programs, dance competition of school children, painting competition, singing competition, fancy dress, street plays will be organized daily in the fair. There will also be tribal folk dance and folk songs. Major performances included Bamboo Musical Band on 21st December, Kabir Cafe on 22nd December, Show of comedian Mr. Sunil Pal on 23rd December, program of famous singer Mr. Vinod Rathore on 24th December and presentation of officers and employees of Forest Department on 25th December.
