Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the last nine years has become closely linked with the community through his various initiatives, one of the most important being opening of the Kartarpur Corridor.
“When Kartarpur corridor was opened it was a historic and courageous step by the Hon’ble PM as it fulfilled a deep-seated desire of the Sikh community since partition to be allowed to pay “ardas” at the gurdwara without requiring visas. Today 5,000 pilgrims daily are able to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib,” states author Dr. Prabhleen Singh, explaining what motivated his sixth book 'Sikhs and Modi, A Journey of 9 years’. “Many other important steps and decisions were taken by the Hon’ble PM towards fulfilling several other long pending demands of the Sikh community. All these decisions have also helped to highlight the Sikh community’s contribution not only in India but globally.”

Addressing a gathering of Sikh community members at the release of the coffee table book in Delhi, BJP President J. P. Nadda emphasized that what the Hon’ble PM has done for the Sikh community, no other leader has done in the past. Highlighting several important decisions taken by the BJP-led government at the Centre, Nadda said these efforts have helped to highlight sacrifices made by Sikh Gurus and Sikh community for the nation. For the first time since Independence, India has started observing ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ on the day of sacrifice by young sahibzade of Guru Gobind Singh for unity and integrity of the country.

“We have learnt from Sikh Gurus how to keep society united, how to generate feelings of dedication for the country, spirit of patriotism and bringing unity among masses….We are working to make India stronger by following the path shown by Guru Sahiban.” While helping to resolve issues that were hanging for the last 70 years, the Modi government has been following the Sikh community's ways of always working for the welfare of all and taking everyone along, and “this principle is visible in the working of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Nadda.
The book highlights how the Modi government's decision to build a ropeway to Gurdwara Hemkunt Sahib is helping even aged pilgrims to visit it without hardship. The book also focus on how Modi government constituted a special team for afresh investigation of 1984 Sikh genocide and paved the way for conviction of guilty after 38 years of the killings. Also the government has removed from its blacklist names of Sikh foreign nationals and the decision was taken after a review carried out by different security agencies on the black list containing the names of Sikh foreign nationals.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, President, Indian Global Foundation and former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President, who helped with the book, stressed that the Sikh community will always be thankful to Hon’ble PM for his efforts to highlight the “ethos of Sikhism, promoting the message of Guru Sahibans, and ensuring the welfare of Sikh community at large. He has served the cause of Sikhism in many ways.”
