Uttar Pradesh Govt Instals Water Tap Connections In Over 1.80 Crore Houses Under 'Jal Jeevan Mission'

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has installed more than 1.80 crore tap water connections under 'Jal Jeevan Mission' scheme. 

With this, UP has become number one state in terms of connections installed under the scheme in the country. 

The 'Jal Jeevan Mission' is a central scheme for ensuring proper water supply in rural households. The scheme aims to create water supply infrastructure so that every rural household has a functional tap connection by 2024 and water in adequate quantity of prescribed quality is made available on regular basis, according to the Union Ministry of Jalshakti.

In a post on Twitter, the Government of UP said that 69 per cent of all households in the state have been provided tap water connections under the scheme.

"Under the guidance of UP CM Mr Yogi Adityanath Ji, Uttar Pradesh has come number one in the country in terms of providing connections in rural households under the 'Jal Jeevan Mission'. More than 1.80 crore households have got tap connections in the state so far, which is around 69 per cent of all households," said the Government of UP in tweet in Hindi. 

The tweet further said, "The state was on the 13th position on April 1, 2020. This April, the state was on the third position. In the past six months, the state has reached the first position because of providing connections quickly."

As per a report shared by the Government of UP on Twitter, the state has also swept the awards under the Jal Jeevan Survey Awards 2023. In the High Achievers category, Ghaziabad ranked second. In the Achievers category, Kanpur City ranked first, Sant Ravidas Nagar second, and Moradabad third.
