Maharashtra: Bus Catches Fire In Thane, Everyone Escapes On Time Without Any Injury

Nearly 50 passengers travelling by bus in Maharashtra had a narrow escape after the vehicle caught fire on Sunday morning in Thane. The bus driver and conductor were able to evacuate everyone on time.

A civic transport bus in Maharashtra caught fire in Thane on Sunday morning and nearly 50 passengers who were travelling in it had a narrow escape. 

Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi told PTI that no one was injured in the incident,

It was a Thane Municipal Transport (TMT) bus that was carrying 45 to 50 passengers on the way from Narpoli to Chendani Koliwada. It caught fire at around 8.30 am near the Central Maidan here, reportedly. 

The driver and the bus conductor noticed the fire initially and evacuated the passengers safely without anyone being injured. 

Local firemen and a team from the disaster management cell rushed to the spot after being alerted and put out the blaze within 15 minutes, the official reportedly said.

The suspected cause of the fire is said to be a short circuit and after the fire was put out, partial damage to the bus could be noticed.
