Madhya Pradesh: Jitu Patwari Replaces Kamal Nath As State Chief Of Congress

Congress' decision of appointing Jitu Patwri as state chief came days after outgoing Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee chief Kamal Nath, in his constituency Chhindawara, said that he was not ready to quit his political journey.

Jitu Patwari has been appointed as the chief of Congress party in Madhya Pradesh with immediate effect by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge. Patwari replaced outgoing president Kamal Nath.

In a press note on Saturday, Congress stated, "Congress President has appointed Jitu Patwari as the President of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, with immediate effect."

"The party appreciates the contributions of outgoing PCC President Shri Kamal Nath," it added.

Congress' decision came days after outgoing Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee chief Kamal Nath, in his constituency Chhindawara, said that he was not ready to call it quits on his political journey.

About Jitu Patwari

49-year-old Patwari was an MLA from the Rau seat who was also chairing the Madhya Pradesh Congress campaign committee.

Back in 2018, he tasted victory in the election for the second time from Rau in 2018 and consequenty was handed with the portfolios of higher education, youth and sports affairs in the Kamal Nath-led government.However, in the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, Patwari lost his stronghold to Madhu Verma of the BJP, who wrested the Rau seat from Congress with a margin of 35,522 votes.
