In connection to a plot to kill PM Modi hatched by the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) in 2022, sleuths of National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 16 places belonging to the activists of PFI on Wednesday.
Houses, offices and hospitals linked to the activists of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) were searched simultaneously in Mangaluru as well as Puttur, Beltangady, Uppinangady, Venur and Bantwal.
The raids are being conducted at multiple locations including Beltangadi, Puttur, Bantwala, Uppinangadi and Venura of Dakshina Kannada district.
What did ED say earlier?
In its remand note against PFI member Shafeeque Payeth, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) last year had said that the PFI had conspired to target PM Modi during his visit to Patna on July 12, 2022.

Additionally, the ED claimed that the PFI was preparing terror modules and other attacks.According to NIA sources, officials are conducting document verification at 16 places with the help of local police.
PFI allegedly received money from gulf countries to plot terror activities in India. The raids are an attempt to crackdown on South India's PFI hawala money network.
Five people were arrested in Patna for indulging in anti-national activities following raids in the Phulwari Sharif area last year in 2022. The raids also led to the recovery of several incriminating documents, including PFI's 'Mission 2047' which allegedly had Prime Minister Narendra Modi on their radar.

NIA sources believe there might be a possibility of their network in Dakshin Kannada which is why a team of NIA officials had come to Dakshina Kannada district on the trail of investigation.
