In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended seven individuals suspected of being terrorist associates in the Budgam district. The arrests were made in the Beerwah area, where the group was allegedly involved in spreading anti-national propaganda through the placement of provocative posters.

The detained individuals have been identified as Romain Rasool Sheikh, Irfan Nazir Sheikh, Rizwan Nazir Sheikh, Sahil Javid Sheikh, Jahangir Bashir Mir, Tariq Ashraf Sheikh, and Shakir Lateef Pathan. All are residents of different localities within the Beerwah area.

According to a police spokesman, the arrested group, led by Romain Rasool Sheikh and Irfan Nazir Sheikh, was found to have been influenced by handlers associated with the Pakistani LeT. Investigations revealed that the duo, serving as local motivators, instructed the other five individuals to carry out specific tasks.

In addition to the arrests, law enforcement officials recovered incriminating materials from the possession of the detained individuals.
