One of the ugliest images seen daily on our roads is the sight of men urinating in public. The Indian man seems to have this uncontrollable urge to piss and spit, regardless of the considerations of health and politeness. They just can’t seem to hold it in till they get to a private space. Now, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has decided on a harsher and more unique deterrent. They will now post pictures of people peeing in public on YouTube. The show-and-shame project uses photos from CCTV cameras at railway stations and bus stands to catch people in the act. The corporation discovered that, for some reason, most men preferred to pee near a bus stand even if they weren’t using the public transport. Thus, the brainwave. It is part of the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign and for once, it is on the money: really about time that disgusting habit is brought out into the open and dealt with.
