A 23-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad was beaten and tortured to death by her relatives who suspected she had stolen jewellery from their house. According to media reports, the woman was subjected to brutal beatings with blades and rods as the relatives tried to get her to “confess” that she stole the items. The attackers also reportedly played loud music to drown her screams and cries for help.

According to an NDTV report, the woman died of her injuries and the accused fled the scene soon after. The incident came to light after the neighbours got suspicious and alerted the police over loud music being played at the house for two days non-stop.

The woman had gone to Heena and Ramesh, her relatives’ house for their son’s birthday party, according to the police. Jewellery worth Rs 5 lakhs had gone missing from their house before that party and they suspected the victim had stolen it.

Heena, Ramesh and others started attacking the woman with rods and slashed her body parts using a blade so that she confesses to the crime, although there was no proof of the alleged robbery.

A police investigation is on and cops are trying to nab the accused.
