The political unrest in Bihar continues as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stands resolute in its call for the resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, refusing to accept his apology for the contentious 'population control' remark. Alleging a loss of mental balance on Kumar's part, the BJP maintains that he is unfit for the chief ministerial role, as reported by PTI. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has gone a step further, demanding Kumar's removal and emphasizing the necessity for "rest and treatment."

The controversy stems from Kumar's crude comments on population control made during a discussion on education in the Bihar assembly. The remarks triggered widespread outrage, leading to Kumar's apology on Wednesday. However, the BJP, led by Sarma and supported by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, dismisses the apology, asserting that such insults to women disqualify Kumar from holding the position.

On Thursday, BJP MLAs continued their protest within the Bihar assembly for the second consecutive day, raising slogans demanding Kumar's resignation. The proceedings were adjourned by the speaker until 2 pm in response to the protest. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also weighed in on the matter, condemning Kumar's actions and stating that such behavior brings disrepute to India.
