The world of cinema and cricket is once again colliding. Superstar Rajinikanth is going to share the screen with former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev in the upcoming film Lal Salaam. The actor took to social media to make the announcement. He posted a photo of himself with the former Indian skipper.
Along with the photo, Rajinikanth wrote in the caption, “It is my honour and privilege working with the Legendary, most respected and wonderful human being Kapildevji., who made India proud winning for the first time ever..Cricket World Cup!!! #lalsalaam #therealkapildev.” The photo seems to be from the set of the movie. We can see a cricket boundary in the photo hinting at Kapil playing a cricketer in the movie. He is seen dressed in grey track pants and a white t-shirt. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is decked up in a white achkan which he has paired with brown formal shoes.

Earlier in the day, Kapil Sharma had also posted a photo with the legendary actor. He captioned the picture, “An honour and privilege to be with a great man.” The photo that Kapil shared seems to be clicked in a vanity van.
As fans of the two superstars spotted them together, they expressed their excitement. One of the Twitter users wrote, “Two legends of their fields – Thalaivar Rajinikanth & Legend Kapil Dev…! 😍🔥.” Another added, “Unexpected combo 🔥 #LalSalaam Hype on a New Level.” A fan also commented, “MoideenBhai meets Haryana Hurricane 🔥.”
Rajinikanth plays ‘Moideen Bhai’ in Lal Salaam which is directed by his daughter Aishwarya. The film stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles. The music has been composed by AR Rahman.

Rajinikanth was last seen in the 2021 Diwali release Annaatthe. He will be next seen in Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. With music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, Jailer is scheduled to release on August 10, 2023. Meanwhile, Lal Salaam is aiming to release theatrically later this year.
