Boss is the story of a good but much misunderstood hero, his estranged dad and a wicked villain interspersed with many fights and chases, some songs and then more fights and chases. Some fights, for variety’s sake, are set to music with three pom-pom girls cheering on. Then there’s dialoguebaazi worth noting down: “Maut to yun hi badnaam hai. Takleef to zindagi deti hai”, “Mere pressure se uske cooker ki seeti bajegi”, “Paani kitna bhi ganda ho aag bujhaane ke liye kaafi hai”, “Kitni bhi koshish kar lo, kaale rang pe koi rang nahin chadhta”, “Bharosa to main apne baap ke baap hone ka bhi nahin karta”. A phrase like “behan ki lorry” is enough to send the audience into peels of laughter. Akshay fights and dances and flashes that trademark 32 intact smile. Ronit sports a buff body and sour and stern face to show evil. Sanjay Mishra uses his ample comic skills to just sneeze and cough. Aditi simpers and wears a bikini in a role of zero substance. And Govind Namdeo’s flaring nostrils are shown twice in a tight close-up, immediately reducing the film to a horror show. Lastly, an advice to Bollywood. Please get a little more careful with any easy, throwaway mention of rape. It can get very inept and out-of-depth.
