March 8, celebrated globally as International Women’s Day, has a huge significance. The day recognises and celebrates the contribution of the female force in our lives and society. ‘Aashiqui’ actress Anu Aggarwal opens up on the significance of the occasion, and what the day means to her.

“Each day, the way you live, how much you care for others, the forgiveness you have, the unconditional love you doll out, is a woman’s day. I celebrate it by living in the moment every second. Normally I am flooded with motivational speaking invites a lot, but this year I decided to use the day as me-time,” Anu Aggarwal shares her celebration plans this year.

About celebrating womanhood, she says, “I think the biggest way you can celebrate womanhood is to be gender-equal. To give back to the world with compassion and empathy is a beautiful way to celebrate your individual being especially as a woman.”

Spreading inner joy in needy children and women gives Anu Aggarwal deep satisfaction. “Also, acting in a woman-centric role movie is fabulous too, as the idea reaches tons and millions of people,” she adds.

On whether she thinks a day to celebrate womanhood is necessary, while men do also have a day but are not much remembered, Anu Aggarwal explains her point of view. She also adds that Anu Aggarwal Foundation believes in gender equality and does things the way it should be done.

“My foundation celebrates men’s day with the same fervour. Gender equality women need to give too rather than just demanding it. Being non-judgmental is the biggest celebration of womanhood I feel,” she ends.
