The trailer and music launch of Ponniyin Selvan 2 will be held in Chennai on Wednesday evening, with nearly all the cast members present along with special guest and megastar Kamal Haasan. The original, which released last year, was both a critical and box office success.
Recently, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who plays dual role in the franchise, shared a brand-new poster of the movie on her Instagram handle, in which Vikram is seen staring into the distance as Aishwarya lights some diyas. Her post’s caption read, “Fire in their eyes. Love in their hearts. Blood on their swords. The Cholas will be back to fight for the throne!”

Fans flooded the comments section of the post with hearts as one of them wrote, “Can’t wait to witness QUEEN AISHWARYA tomorrow.” Another simply wrote, “Waiting!”
Besides Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, PS-2 will feature Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Vikram, Trisha Krishnan in pivotal roles. It is slated for a release on April 28 this year.
Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' was based on eminent writer Kalki's literary classic of the same name. The film crossed Rs 350 crore at the worldwide box office within ten days of its release. It revolves around the early life of prince Arun Mozhi Varman, who later was known as the great Raja Raja Cholan. The film, which released on September 30, stars Karthi, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, and others.
