March 5: Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress general secretary in charge of TamilNadu, asserts there is no change in his party's stance on the PMK finding aplace in the state government after the polls.

April 2: Jayalalitha announces the AIADMK will contest "one ottwo seats" more than its allies in Pondicherry. The announcement istaken as a veiled threat to the Congress, to play second fiddle to the AIADMKand the PMK, or go its own way in the company of the TMC.

April 4: The DMK completes seat adjustments for Assembly elections,keeping 13 seats for itself. Its allies, Puducherri (Pondicherry) Makkal Congress,BJP, Dalit Panthers of India and Janata Dal (U) get nine, five,
two and one seat respectively.

April 10: With the AIADMK and TMC yet to formalise an alliance due toPondicherry Congress leaders insisting on keeping government formation inabeyance until after the polls, the PMK asks AIADMK to talk directly to SoniaGandhi to solve the impasse.

April 19: PMK suffers a setback as Pondicherry unit president MManjini, vice-president P Sankaran and other senior leaders quit the party overthe allocation of seats. Manjini says the style of functioning of PMK founder DrS Ramadoss, the party's alliance with the AIADMK and the selection of somecandidates had irked partymen.

April 29: Ajit Jogi asks people to vote the secular front, headed by theCongress, to power in the union territory.
