It was quite a dramatic day as all 10 teams spent big on buying their favourite players on Day 1 of the IPL auction 2022. Local batsman Ishan Kishan bagged a multi-million dollar deal, overseas spinners were largely snubbed and the auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed on stage during an eventful day. IPL giants Mumbai Indians bought back explosive batsman Ishan Kishan for 15.25 crores while IPL holders Chennai Super Kings forked out 14 crores to keep seamer Deepak Chahar and twice champions Kolkata Knight Riders bought India batsman Shreyas Iyer for 12.25 Cr in major highlights of the day.
