India women's national cricket team began their three-game T20 Internationals series against Australia on the right note by securing a nine-wicket win in the first match in Navi Mumbai. Titas Sandhu shone with the ball, claiming four wickets, while Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana raced past the 50-run mark respectively to ease the home side toward a comfortable win. (More Cricket News)

Australia batted first but lost their two openers early to Renuka Singh and Sandhu. Sandhu then bagged another in quick succession and before they knew it, the visitors had surrendered four wickets for a combined score of 33. Ellyse Perry and Phoebe Litchfield prevented India from running rampant at the DY Patil Stadium with the ball, taking Australia past the 100-run mark before losing their wickets. With the top and middle order collapsed the Indian bowlers made quick work of the tail-enders, limiting the Aussies to just 141 runs.

Comparatively, India started their innings strongly, with Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana knocking the Australian bowlers all over the field. Both batters crossed the 50-run-mark, helping the hosts to a win without breaking a sweat, much to the delight of the Indian cricket fans.
