Mohammed Shami showed his classy bowling performance right before the ODI World Cup 2023 as Shubman Gill's perfect batting helped India defeat Australia by five wickets in the opening ODI of the three-match series in Mohali on Friday. The victory helped India go top of ICC Men's ODI Rankings replacing Pakistan. India is now the number one team across all the three formats - ODI, T20I and Test cricket. Shami displayed his artistry with impressive figures of 5 for 51, reminding all and sundry of his skills while helping India restrict Australia to 276 after asking the visitors to make first use of the strip. Ruturaj Gaikwad too scored a half-century as KL Rahul-led side took a 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series.
