London's iconic Stamford Bridge Stadium witnessed a nervy penalty shoot-out to decide one of the semi-finalists of the EFL Cup 2023-24 late Tuesday (local time). In a clash of two English Premier League outfits, hosts Chelsea found the equaliser deep into stoppage time via Mykhailo Mudryk after conceding in the 16th minute (Callum Wilson). The Blues, then, escaped with a 4-2 win. In another all-Premier League quarter-final match, Fulham beat Everton 7-6 on penalties after the regulation time ended at Goodison Park ended 1-1. Chelsea and Fulham will be joined by Championship (second-tier) outfit Middlesbrough, who blanked League One's (third-tier) Port Vale 3-0 at Vale Park, in the semis of the League Cup, also known as Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons. Wednesday night, Anfield will host the fourth and final quarter-final match between Liverpool and West Ham United.
