The Portuguese footballer's contract with Manchester United was terminated after he had heavily criticised the EPL club and its manager Erik Ten Hag in an unauthorised interview with British broadcaster and journalist Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo's presence at the Real Madrid training ground is bound to raise eyebrows, as it was his home for 9 years, from 2009-2018. During his stint with the Los Blancos, he scored 292 goals in 311 games.

Since the termination of his United contract, speculations had been rife about Ronaldo's possible signing with Saudi Arabia team Al Nassr, who reportedly wished to sign him for two seasons at $207m each.

After numerous reports confirming the potential move caught worldwide attention, Ronaldo wasted no time in refuting them. “No, that’s not true — not true”, he said after Portugal's 6-1 win over Switzerland in the World Cup round of 16 clash.

Portugal led by Ronaldo was eliminated from the ongoing showpiece competition after Morocco beat them 1-0 in the quarterfinals.
