Thailand women's skipper Naruemol Chaiwai won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision backfired quickly as Nepali women struck instantly.
Led by Manisha Upadhayay (3/18), Nepal did not let Thai batters seize control of proceedings as the hosts restricted their opponents to 106/6 in 20 overs.
Thai's top-scorer was Chanida Sutthiruang (27 runs) with Thipatcha Putthawong contributing with 25.
In reply, Nepal lost wickets at regular intervals. The fall of Samjhana Khadka saw them struggling at 4/8 as Thipatcha Putthawong bamboozled the hosts.
However, Rubina Chhetry (26) and Kabita Joshi (24) brought some parity to the scorecard by hitting few fours down the order. But post their dismissals, Nepali batters could not surge ahead of the game, as they eventually fell short by five runs off Thailand's score.
