Chennai Super Kings (CSK) signed off their league stage campaign in IPL 2025 with a spectacular batting display, recording their quickest team 100 of the season against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. (Match Blog)
The milestone was achieved in a blistering 9 overs, bettering their previous season best of 9.4 overs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bengaluru.
The Chennai innings was set alight early on, particularly in a dramatic second over bowled by GT's Arshad Khan. The young pacer was taken to the cleaners, leaking a staggering 28 runs. This expensive over was the second-most runs plundered by CSK in a single over this season, just behind the 30 runs Dewald Brevis hammered off Vaibhav Arora in Kolkata.
This explosive start propelled CSK to their joint-highest Powerplay score of the IPL 2025 season. They raced to 68 for the loss of just one wicket in the first six overs, equalling their previous best of 68 for three wickets against Rajasthan Royals in Delhi.
Their other notable Powerplay efforts this season included 62/1 against the Mumbai Indians in Chennai and 62/5 against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata.
Despite a challenging season, particularly for their opening partnerships, which ended IPL 2025 with an average stand of 21.85 – the second-lowest for the franchise after 21.42 the previous year – the Chennai batters showed remarkable intent in their final league outing.
The aggressive approach from the outset against the Titans ensured that the scoreboard kept ticking at a rapid pace, culminating in their fastest century of the ongoing tournament. This performance provided a silver lining for the Chennai Super Kings as they concluded their IPL 2025 journey.
